The special edition is a nice package as it comes with
a DVD featuring a documentary on the making of Chaos and Creation
in the Backyard. Paul and producer Nigel discuss the songs
and the processes involved in creating the album. Really enjoyed
the DVD and it was a highlight to see McCartney in the studio
playing various instruments. Very interesting to see all the
differing kinds of intruments and equipment he uses.

On PBS I actually saw a performance in Abbey Road Studios
where Paul was performing the music on this album for a very
small audience. The music was awesome, and his performance
was very down to earth and personable.
So, at the end of the show I watched the credits, got the
name of the album/music and tracked down this version of the
CD here at Amazon. While the DVD in this set is not that PBS
performance, it is great nonetheless. There is a 30 minute
documentary of Paul in the studio recording this album. Paul
details how he came up with the music, what he had in mind
when he wrote each song, etc. Moreover, the DVD includes a
studio music video, and music put to a video of the line art
of the album.

About the DVD
Paul McCartney’s 20th studio album, Chaos
and Creation in the Backyard received four Grammy
Award nominations in 2006 and widespread praise from critics
upon its release in 2005. It’s been hailed as his best
solo work to date; an album of songs that critics have compared
to many of the Beatles and Wings classics that have made McCartney
one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
Chaos And Creation In The Backyard was released
as a Special Edition CD with a Companion
DVD featuring an intimate ‘Behind The Scenes Look’
into the making of new studio album.
Filmed in Los Angeles and London, the special DVD gives a
rare and unprecedented look inside the mind of one of the
world’s most prolific and renown songwriters. It captures
McCartney working alongside producer Nigel Godrich in a way
that has never been seen, as they collaborate to make McCartney’s
20th studio album.
The main feature, ‘Between
Chaos And Creation,’ is a 30-minute documentary
style film that tracks McCartney’s creative journey
making of the new album. It takes the viewer song by song,
through the album, and demonstrates his unparalleled song-writing
skills and musical versatility.
DVD extras also include special
performances of album tracks, the new single, ‘Fine
Line,’ as well as ‘How Kind Of You.’ In
addition, there is an art feature entitled ‘Line Art,’
featuring the work of fine artist Brian Clarke. It’s
a series of animated sketches accompanied by instrumental
versions of tracks from the new album.
